WHAT HAPPENED?
Fabregas' journey as a coach at Como has been phenomenal. After playing an important role as an assistant coach in the club securing promotion to Serie A in the 2023-24 campaign, the ex-Chelsea and Arsenal star is now close to securing a top-half finish for Como in the Italian top flight. As a result, he has attracted interest from several top European clubs, including former German champions Bayer Leverkusen as they look to replace outgoing manager Xabi Alonso.

The Spaniard, however, has reportedly rejected the Bundesliga side's offer and decided to honour his existing contract that runs until 2028. According to , Fabregas is grateful to Como for the trust the club had shown in him at a time when he was yet to procure a UEFA license to coach at the highest level.

Leverkusen are not the first team to approach Como about Fabregas. RB Leipzig and Roma had previously contacted the 38-year-old. Sky Sports reported that Fabregas is likely to see an increase in his current wages for the loyalty he has shown to the Italian side.
