WHAT HAPPENED?
After Musk's father, Errol Musk, said his son would "like to" purchase Liverpool from Fenway Sports Group, claim the Tesla and X owner has not contacted the American owners. Moreover, insiders allegedly say there is no desire to have any talks as a result of a radio interview as it lacks seriousness.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Musk is the world's richest man, with an estimated wealth of £340 billion ($424.6bn). While FSG sold a minority stake to United States investment firm Dynasty Equity in September 2023, it seems they will not entertain an approach from Musk – even if he presented them with a lucrative offer.

WHAT ELON MUSK'S FATHER SAID
When asked on if his son wanted to buy Liverpool, he replied: "I can’t comment on that, they’ll raise the price! Oh yes, [he has expressed a desire], but that doesn’t mean he’s buying it. He would like to yes, obviously. Anybody would want to – so would I."
